Question states*** 

  x + y = 26  0r  x+=+26-y

 8x - 5y = 0

8(26-y) - 5y = 0

   208 = 13y

    16 = y, solved incorrectly.  10 solved correctly

and...

Substitute for "w" and solve for "c":
w = 26-c

-5(26-c) + 8c = 0
