Question 659107: The difference between two positive numbers is 17. The larger of the numbers is twice the smaller. What are the numbers? I do not know how to solve this problem or the formula to do it please help. Answer by colliefan(242) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! If x is the smaller number, then 2x is the larger. You know that the difference between them is 17 so:
2x-x=17
x=17
The other number is 2*17 or 34.
