Question 65818: I asked this problem already and received an answer, but my teacher has said I need to have a certain format for the answer. I have looked and looked but to no help do not understand what she is looking for, thank you for the help:

The demand equation for a certain type of printer is given by:
D = -200p + 35,000
The supply equation is predicted to be:
S = -p^2 + 400p - 20,000

The answer I recieved was:
P = 487.08 and P = 112.92
Can anyone help me figure out what I am to use for a format and how it is to be set up. Thank you.

You can put this solution on YOUR website! I believe you are supposed to find the point where
supply equals demand.
The demand equation for a certain type of printer is given by:
D = -200p + 35,000
The supply equation is predicted to be:
S = -p^2 + 400p - 20,000
The answer I recieved was:
P = 487.08 and P = 112.92
-----------------

I get P=112.91713 and 487.08
-------------
The work:
D=S
-200x+35000=-x^2+400x-20000
x^2-600x+55000=0
Use the quadratic formula to get:
x=[600+-sqrt(600^2-4*55000)]/2
x=[600+-sqrt140000]/2
x=[600+374.1657]/2 or x=[600-374.1657]/2
x=487.08 of x=112.9171
Note: x=P
Cheers,
