You can put this solution on YOUR website!
7+2a-6=-9
2a=-9-7+6
2a=-10
a=-10/2
a=-5

I am trying to solve this equation. Our teacher told us the answer should be
-6, but I keep coming up with -5. Could you please help me figure out what I'm doing wrong? The equation is 7 + 2(a - 3) = -9

I also got - 5.
If the answer's - 6, you might have copied the wrong equation.

7 + 2(a - 3) = - 9
7 + 2a - 6 = - 9
2a + 1 = - 9
2a = - 9 - 1
2a = - 10

a = %28-+10%29%2F2, or highlight_green%28-+5%29
