An olympic runner completes a 5000- meter race in 13 minutes and 20 seconds. What is the average speed of the runner?
**
13 min +20 sec=13+1/3min=40/3 min=(40/3)/60 hr=40/180 hr=2/9 hr
average speed of runner=5000 m/(2/9) hr*1km/1000 m
=5/(2/9) km/hr
=45/2 km/hr
=22.5 km/hr
