x-(2x+4)-2x+3x-(12)


I know where you're going wrong. See that - to the left of (2x+4)? This is probably the problem. You have to think of that at a -1(2x+4).


X-(2x+4) -2x+3x -(12)
x-2x-4 -2x+3x -12
Now combine like terms:
x-2x-2x+3x and -4-12
0 and -16
So the final simplification is -16
