Question 652734: how do you simplify 7 x's the square root of 48
I simplified square root of 48 as the square root of 16 x's the square root of 3
the square root of 16 becomes 4
then I multiplied the 7 x's 4 (28) and placed it next to 3 with the square root sign over it. I think my answer is wrong. Answer by solver91311(24713) (Show Source):
Now what makes you think that is wrong? By the way, instead of your very painful: "7 x's the square root of 48", next time just write 7sqrt(48) or, if you must, 7*sqrt(48). Everyone understands that.
If you still need some convincing, open up an Excel spreadsheet. In any convenient cell type: =7*sqrt(48). In a nearby cell type: =28*sqrt(3). Don't forget the equals signs.
