You can put this solution on YOUR website! I have to find the x intercept of y=x^3-2x^2-8x
Let y=0
Then x^3-2x^2-8x=0
x(x^2-2x-8)=0
x(x-4)(x+2)=
x=0 or x=4 or x=-2
-----------------------------
and log x+log(x+1)=log 12
log[x(x+1)] = log(12)
x(x+1)=12
x^2+x-12=0
(x+4)(x-3)=0
x=3
X cannot be -4 in the original equation.
