Question 652555: I have three pumps, Pump A,B, and C. The pumps run for exactly 20 mins per hour, every hour. What is the probability that at any given hour of the day, all three pumps will be running at the same time?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
20 minutes per hours means that each pump is running 20%2F60 or
1%2F3 of the time

So at any time, the probability that any pump is running is 1%2F3

P(1st running AND 2nd running AND 3rd running) =

P(1st running)×P(2nd running)×P(3rd running) = 1%2F3×1%2F3×1%2F3 = 1%2F27
