You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The area of the Sahara Desert is 7 times the area of the Gobi Desert. If the sum of their areas is 4,000,000 sq. miles, find the area of each desert. Having trouble with figuring out the equation. Thank you.
Let area of Gobi = G
Then area of Sahara = 7G
Sum of their areas = G + 7G, or 8G
Therefore, 8G = 4,000,000
G, or area of Gobi = , or sq miles
Area of Sahara = 4,000,000 - 500,000, or sq miles
