You can put this solution on YOUR website! Luke wants to travel 1,000 miles on an adult tricycle and has two spare tires.
However, he wants to use all five tires equally over the course of the trip.
Because he is riding a tricycle he can only ride three at a time.
At the end of the trip. How many miles will each tire have been used?
:
I am going to say 3/5 * 1000 = 600 mi per tire, or 3000 tire-miles divided by 5,
also gives 600 mi per tire.:
To rotate the tires:
replace tire 1 with tire 4 after 400 mi, tire 1 has 200 mi left on it
replace tire 2 with tire 5 after 400 mi, tire 2 has 200 mi left on it
replace tire 3 with tire 1 after 600 mi, at 800 mi replace tire 1 with tire 2
