Let one number be x and the other number= y
y= (1/5)*x ....(1)
x-y = 216 ....(2)
Substitute the value of y in equation 2
x - x/5 = 216
4x/5 = 216
x/5 = 54
x =54*5 = 270
y= x/5
y= 270/5
y= 54
