Question 650938: Can you please explain how to solve equations such as (9k+30)-(4k+10)=100 ? thanks Found 3 solutions by MathLover1, stanbon, Aaniya:Answer by MathLover1(20850) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! first remove the parentheses,
recall:
When parentheses are preceded by a plus sign + simply remove them. Nothing changes.
When parentheses are preceded by a minus sign−change the sign of every term within the parentheses.
You can put this solution on YOUR website! (9k+30)-(4k+10)=100
------------------
9k + 30 -4k - 10 = 100
-----
5k +20 = 100
-----
5k = 80
-----
k = 16
