You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The Median is the "middle number" (in a sorted list of numbers).
if x, y , and z numbers,and x%3Cy%3Cz, median is y
since given y=85, we know that
x%3C85
z%3E85
given: a mean of 83

so, %28x%2By%2Bz%29%2F3=83...use y=85
x%2B85%2Bz=249
x%2Bz=249-85
x%2Bz=164....since z%3E85, let's take first greater number

if z=86, than x=164-86=78

so, your numbers are:78,85,and 86
check:
78,85,and 86..the "middle number" (in a sorted list of numbers)...so, it is 85
mean
%28x%2By%2Bz%29%2F3=83
%2878%2B85%2B86%29%2F3=83
249%2F3=83
83=83
