Question 64929: Any help on this would be GREAT...
On a trip, Dave drives 267 miles, adds 8 gallons of gas to his tank, and drives another 310 miles before running out of gas. If Dave's car averages 18.2 miles per gallon, how many gallons did Dave already have in his tank before starting this trip?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Dave drives a total of 577 miles. The fuel required to drive that distance is 577/18.2 = 31.7 gallons
If this includes the 8 gallons he added then he must have started with 31.7-8=23.7 gallons.
