You can put this solution on YOUR website!
solve for x and y
(1) 3x+1=-7y
(2) 6x+7y=0
From (2), if we subtract 7y from both sides. we see that 6x=-7y or
(2a) -7y=6x
substituting for -7y in (1) we get:
3x+1=6x or subtracting 3x from both sides, we have:
6x-3x=1
3x=1
x=1/3
substituting in (2a):
-7y=6(1/3)=2
y=(-2/7)

ck
Substitute for x & y in (1):
3x+1=-7y
3(1/3)+1=-7(-2/7)=
1+1=2
2=2
Substitute for x & y in (2):
6x+7y=0
6(1/3)+7(-2/7)=0
2-2=0
0=0
