Do them one step at a time.
If they're both even numbers, divide both by 2
18/24 = 9/12
After getting one to an odd number, factor both numbers.
9/12 = 3*3/3*4
Look for common factors. In this case there's a 3. Cancel them
= 3/4
That's all. No reason to panic.
