Question 648088: Hi. Im in Accelerated Algebra 2 w/ Trigonometry and I was wondering how would you solve or what are the steps in solving this problem:
The average of 5, x, 10, and 13 is at least 9. Find x.
I looked in notes in the past and I noticed that there were no problems that were done in the past that looked like this or were somewhat similar. So if you could please show me a different example or help me through the steps before today ends it would benifit me greatly. Thank you!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
To find the average of a set of numbers is, as you know, the sum of the numbers divided by the number of numbers, so, if you have 3, x, 6, and 12 whose average is at least 12, then...
%283%2Bx%2B6%2B12%29%2F4+%3E=+12 Simplify.
%2821%2Bx%29%2F4+%3E=+12 Multiply both sides by 4.
21%2Bx+%3E=+48 Now subtract 21 from both sides.
x+%3E=+27
x is at least 27
