Let the number of girls= g
and number of boys= b
The sum of the girls and boys = 41
Therefore,
g + b = 41 ......(1)
Now there are 3 more girls than boys,
g = b + 3 ......(2)
Substitute the value for g in equation 1
g + b =41
b + 3+b =41
2b+ 3= 41
2b= 41- 3
2b= 38
b= 38/2
b= 19
Now substitute the value of b in (2)
g= 19 +3 = 22
