Let the number be N
Half of the number = ½N, or N%2F2+
Half of the number increased by 4 = N%2F2+%2B+4
The result is doubled means: 2%28N%2F2+%2B+4%29
Increased by 2 and new result is 24 means: 2%28N%2F2+%2B+4%29+%2B+2+=+24

So, now we have: 2%28N%2F2+%2B+4%29+%2B+2+=+24
Then: 2%28%28N+%2B+8%29%2F2%29+%2B+2+=+24 ---- Simplifying what’s in the parentheses
cross%282%29%28%28N+%2B+8%29%2Fcross%282%29%29+%2B+2+=+24
N + 8 + 2 = 24
N + 10 = 24
N = 24 – 10
N, or number = highlight_green%2814%29
