Hi I'm Jasdeep i have a summer math packet and have been having trouble with this problem can you please please help me. This is the problem:
KJ HIgh Football Cheerleaders are having try-outs. Koutney, Kim, Kendall, Kelsey, and Khloe are going to try out. Kim does twice as many cheers as Koutney. Kendall does three more cheers than Kim. Kelsey and Khloe both did four more cheers than Kourney. Total number of cheers equals 88. How many cheers did each girl do? Thank you for your help Jasdeep Kaur.
Let Koutney/Kourney’s amount of cheers be K
Then Kim’s amount = 2K
Kendall’s amount = 2K + 3
Kelsey’s amount = K + 4
Khloe’s amount = K + 4
Since they all did 88 cheers, then we can say that:
K + 2K + 2K + 3 + 2(K + 4) = 88
5K + 3 + 2K + 8 = 88
7K + 11 = 88
7K = 77
K, or amount of cheers that Koutney/Kourney did was , or
Kim did 2(11), or cheers
Kendall did 2(11) + 3, or cheers
Kelsey and Khloe did 11 + 4, or cheers each
You can do the check!!
