Question 642106: Where do I put parantheses so that this equation equals 16?
3 squared + 6 - 1 * 5 = 16
I've tried every possible way and i keep coming up with the answers 10 or 34, anything but 16. Please help Answer by solver91311(24713) (Show Source):
I got your 10 and your 34. I also got (9 + 6 - 1) * 5 is 70, (9 + 6)(-1 * 5) = -75, and (9) + (6)(-1 * 5) or (9) + (6)(-1) * 5 both of which are -21. But I can't find your 16 either. Sorry.

My calculator said it, I believe it, that settles it
