Question 641373: I haved soplved the problem,but now I am supposed to label a diagram,set up an equation based on my diagram labels???here is the problem, at a given time od day the shadow od a 6 ft man is 8 ft. in length. the shadow of a pole is 40 ft.. how tall is the pole, here is how i solved it but how do i do a diagram?
t/6=40/8
8t=6*40
8t=240
t=240/8
t=30 ft. height of pole now I hsave to do a diagram

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
I am supposed to label a diagram,set up an equation based on my diagram labels???here is the problem, at a given time od day the shadow od a 6 ft man is 8 ft. in length. the shadow of a pole is 40 ft.. how tall is the pole, here is how i solved it but how do i do a diagram?
t/6=40/8
8t=6*40
8t=240
t=240/8
t=30 ft. height of pole now I hsave to do a diagram
-----------------------
Draw a right triangle with the base being a horizontal line segment
and the height a vertical line segment extending above the base.
---
Let the base of the triangle be 40' ; then the height of the triangle is
the height of the pole and is "x".
----
Draw a vertical line segment from the base of the triangle reaching up to
the hypotenuse. Let that segment represent the 6' man.
His shadow on the base is 8'.
-----------------
You now have two similar right triangles:
x/40 = 6/8
---
x = 40(6/8)
x = 30' is the height of the pole
