This is a good unit conversion problem. Ultimately the numerator needs to go from cm to km and the denominator needs to go from minutes to hours.
Conversion:
5 cm/min*60 min/1 hr*100 cm/1 m*1000 m/1 km.
Multiply:
300 km/10000 hr
Simplify:
.03 km/hr

To solve, we need to find out how many kilometers are equal to 1 cm and how many hours equal 1 min...
1 centimeter = 1/100 of a meter
1 meter = 1/1000 of a kilometer
So, to find how many centimeters are in a kilometer, multiply 100 and 1000 and divide 1 by that answer:
100 x 1000 = 100,000
1/100,000 = .00001
Therefore 1 centimeter = .00001 kilometer
Now we need to find out how many hours are in 1 min:
1 hour = 60 min, so 1 min = 1/60 hours
All that's left to do is:
1. multiply 5 cm by .00001 = 0.00005
2. divide that answer by 1/60: .00005 x 60 = .003
FINAL ANSWER: 5 cm/min = .003 km/hr
