-8=-(x+4)
solve the multi-step equation
-8 = -(x + 4)
-1 * x = -1x
-1 * 4 = -4
Therefore:
-8 = -1x - 4
Add 4 to each side of the equation.
-8 + 4 = -1x - 4 + 4
Combine like terms:
-8 + 4 = -4
-4 + 4 = 0
Therefore:
-4 = -1x or
-1x = -4
Divide each side by -1
-1x/-1 = -4/-1
x = 4
