Question 636758: graph the line x-4y=-4
Answer by lenny460(1073) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! graph the line x-4y=-4
Graph the line: x - 4y = -4
Subtract x from each side of the equation.
x - 4y - x = -4 - x
Combine like terms:
x - x = 0
Therefore we now have:
-4y = -4 - x or
-4y = -x - 4
Divide each term by -4
-4y/-4 = -x/-4 - 4/-4
-4y/-4 = y
-x/-4 = x/4
-4/-4 = 1
Now we have:
y = x/4 + 1
From the above we get the following coordinates:
(0, 1)
(4, 2)
(8, 3)
(-4, 0)
(-8, -1)
It is a straight line graph.
Slope: rise/run = 1/4
The Slope = 1/4
The y-intercept = 1
y = mx + b
y = 1x/4 + 1
I don't know how to plot the graph here.
I hope this helps you.
