3x + 5y = -8
x + 20y = 34
Use the 2nd equation for substitution in the 1st equation
x = -20y + 34
:
3(-20y+34) + 5y = -8
-60y + 102 + 5y = -8
-55y = -8 -102
-55y = -110

y = +2
