SOLUTION: If g(x)=x^2+3x-1,find (g(x+h)-g(x))/h
The answer is 2x+hbut I keep getting 2x+h+3
This is what I did:
G(x+h)-g(x): (x+h)^2+3(x+h)-1-(x^2+3x-1)=x^2+xh+h^2+3x+3h-1-x^2-3x+1=2xh+

Question 636560: If g(x)=x^2+3x-1,find (g(x+h)-g(x))/h
The answer is 2x+hbut I keep getting 2x+h+3
This is what I did:
G(x+h)-g(x): (x+h)^2+3(x+h)-1-(x^2+3x-1)=x^2+xh+h^2+3x+3h-1-x^2-3x+1=2xh+h^2+3h
(2xh+h^2+3h)/h= 2x+h+3
Thanks in advance!
