Question 63548This question is from textbook beginning algebra
: 3x+5y=1
4x-5y=2
2x+3y+5=0
Then instructions says to find the slope of the line.
I tried working these problems but I am not fully understanding what to do first. Can you give me a break down step by step how to do these problems. thanks so much for your help.

You can put this solution on YOUR website! 3x+5y=1
FIRST PUT THE EQN. IN STD. FORM
Y = MX + C
THAT IS KEEP ONLY Y..[NOTE ONLY +1*Y IT SHOULD BE] ON LHS AND TRANSFER X AND CONSTANT TERMS TO RHS.
THEN M THE COEFFFICIENT OF X IS THE SLOPE AND CONSTANT TERM IS THE Y INTERCEPT OR CALLED THE INTERCEPT IN SHORT
HERE WE GET
5Y=-3X+1
Y=-3X/5 +1/5
HENCE M= SLOPE = -3/5
AND INTERCEPT = 1/5
4x-5y=2 ....SIMILARLY
M=4/5......INTERCEPT = -2/5
2x+3y+5=0
M= -2/3..INTERCEPT = -5/3
Then instructions says to find the slope of the line.

You can put this solution on YOUR website! QUESTION;
Find the slope of given equations.
ANSWER;
The equation of the line can be written in slope-intercept form as
y = mx+b where 'm' is the slope of the equation and b is the 'y' intercept.
To find the slope of the equation, first of all rewrite the given equation in standard form, that is y = mx + c
1.3x+5y=1
==>3x+5y=1
Subtract 3x from both sides of the equation,
==> 3x + 5y -3x = 1-3x
==> 5y = 1-3x
Divide both sides by 5
==> 5y/5 = ( 1-3x )/5
==> y = 1/5 - 3x/5
==> y = 1/5 + (-3/5)x
==> y = (-3/5)x + 1/5, which is of the form, y = mx + c
where m = -3/5
Therefore slope of the equation is -3/5
2. 4x - 5y = 2
As in above proceed,
4x - 5y -4x = 2 -4x
==> -5y = 2- 4x
==> -5y/-5 =(2-4x)/-5
==> y = 2/-5 - 4x/-5
==> y = (-2/5) + (4/5)x
==> y = (4/5)x + ( -2/5)
which is of the form, y = mx +c
so here slope is = 4/5
3. 2x +3y +5 = 0
2x + 3y + 5 - 5 = 0 - 5
2x + 3y = -5
2x + 3y - 2x = -5 - 2x
3y = -5 - 2x
3y/3 = -5/3 -2x/3
y = (-5/3) + ( -2/3)x
Therefore, slope = (-2/3)
