Question 635177: Here is the word problem: A basketball player made 5 out of every 6 foul shots attempted. If 42 foul shots were missed in the player's career, how many foul shots were made in the player's career?
Here is what I have brought my conclusion to:
If out of every 6 shots only 1 was a foul, then the player would have automatically had to have made 6 shots 42 times in order to get 42 fouls, right? Then from there we just multiply 5 by 42 because out of every 6, 5 were made. Therefore, the answer is 210. Is this right? I would just like to check. Thank you for your time.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1 out 6 were missed.
x/6=42
x=252

210 were made and 42 were missed of a total of 252.
