3x + 4 = 19

we have to keep the variable x on one side of the equation. lets keep it on the left hand side of the equation. 4 has to be moved to the right hand side of the equation.
How do we remove the 4
add -4 on both sides
3x+4 -4 = 19-4
+4 & -4 cancel off
3x= 15
To find the value of x the co efficient of x should be 1
so we divide both sides by 3
