Question 634295: How to solve this?
Chris is 3 years older than Beth. Seven years from now she will be twice as old as Beth was a year ago. How old is each now? Answer by lwsshak3(11628) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Chris is 3 years older than Beth. Seven years from now she will be twice as old as Beth was a year ago. How old is each now?
let x=Beth's age now
x+3=Chris' age now
7 years from now:
Chris' age=x+3+7=x+10
A year ago:
Beth's age=x-1
..
Seven years from now Chris will be twice as old as Beth was a year ago.
x+10=2(x-1)
x+10=2x-2
x=12
x+3=15
Beth's age now=12
Chris' age now=15
