Hi,
Using the standard slope-intercept form for an equation of a line y = mx + b
where m is the slope and b the y-intercept.
line which passes through (2, 1) and is perpendicular to x = �2
New Line: m = 1/2
y = (1/2)x + b
1 = (1/2)�2 + b |Using ordered pair (x,y):(2,1) to solve for b
0 = b, y = (1/2)x or x-2y = 0
