Question 632703: Problem: One day I was at school, the electricity went out at home. when I left for swim practice that morning, all the clocks were working and the time was 6:30am.When I returned home they all said different times. the wind -up clock, which was unaffected by the loss of electricity, have a time of 5:21pm. my math clock, which stops when the electricity is off and runs when the electricity is on, gave a time of 3:50 pm. My digital clock, which resets to midnight when the power goes off and continues to run from that point, have a flashing time of 6:03 am. Assuming the electricity went out only once, what time did it go out and for how long?
~ also can you show all of your work thank you soo much!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
One day I was at school, the electricity went out at home.
when I left for swim practice that morning, all the clocks were working and
the time was 6:30am.
When I returned home they all said different times.
the wind-up clock, which was unaffected by the loss of electricity, have a
time of 5:21pm.
my math clock, which stops when the electricity is off and runs when the electricity is on, gave a time of 3:50 pm.
My digital clock, which resets to midnight when the power goes off and
continues to run from that point, have a flashing time of 6:03 am.
Assuming the electricity went out only once, what time did it go out and for how long?
:
Find the length of time of the outage using the wind-up and math clocks
5:21 - 3:50 = 1 hr 31 min
:
Find the time of the end of the outage using the Digital clock
and Wind-up clock (17:21)
17:21 - 6.03 = 11:18 am, time the power came back on
subtract the duration of the outage:
11:18 - 1:31 = 9:37 am, time of the beginning of the outage
