You can put this solution on YOUR website!
how to solve it?
if the numerator of a fraction is increased by 20% &
its denominator by 25% then the fraction so obtained is 3/5.
what is the original fraction?
:
The multiplier for a 20% increase is 1.20, for 25% increase is 1.25
:
Let n = the original numerator
Let d = the denominator
:
1.2n = 3
n = 3/1.2
n = 2.5
and
1.25d = 5
d = 5/1.25
d = 4
;
2.5%2F4 but the numerator has to be an integer, mult by 2/2
2.5%2F4*2%2F2 = 5%2F8 is the original fraction
