Sum of their ages is 16
m+n=16
m=16-n......................(1)
Four years ago
Madan was = m-4 years old
Mohan was = n-4 years old
Then
Madan was thrice old as Mohan
m-4=3(n-4)
m-4=3n-12
m=3n-12+4
m=3n-8......................(2)
Put the value of m from (1) to (2)
16-n=3n-8
-n-3n=-8-16
-4n=-24
-4n/-4=-24/-4
n=6
Put the value of n in (1)
m=16-n......................(1)
m=16-6
m=10
Present age of Madan = m = 10 years old
Present age of Mohan = n = 6 years old
