You can put this solution on YOUR website!
How do you find the area of a square whose diagonal is equal to 4x?
.
Let y = length of one side of the square
then applying Pythagorean theorem
y%5E2+%2B+y%5E2+=+%282x%29%5E2
2y%5E2+=+%282x%29%5E2
y%5E2+=+%282x%29%5E2%2F2
y%5E2+=+%284x%5E2%29%2F2
y%5E2+=+2x%5E2
.
Now, because 'y' is the length of one side the of square then y^2 is the area
THUS
area is 2x%5E2 square units
