I need to dilute a 16 ounce bottle of 35 percent hydrogen peroxide to equal 12 percent hydrogen peroxide. How much water do I add?
-------------
0.35*16 = 5.6 oz of HP
If 5.6 oz is 12%, then the total solution = 5.6/0.12 oz = 46.67 oz
Add 46.67 - 16 = 30.67 oz of water.
------------
Or
35*16 + x*0 = (16+x)*12
560 = 192 + 12x
x = 368/12 = 30.67

I need to dilute a 16 ounce bottle of 35 percent hydrogen peroxide
to equal 12 percent hydrogen peroxide. How much water do I add?
:
Let w = amt of water required
A typical mixture equation
:
.35(16) = .12(w+16)
5.6 = .12w + 1.92
5.6 - 1.92 = .12w
3.68 = .12w
w = 3.68/.12
w = 302%2F3 oz needs to be added to reduce to a 12% mixtures
