3x+5y=9 



(a) 2x-y=4

   -y = -2x + 4    ---> Subtract 2x from both sides.

    y = 2x - 4     ---> Multiply both sides by -1 (Answer)  



(b) 3x+5y=9  

    5y = -3x + 9         ---> Subtract 3x from both sides.

    y = (-3/5)x + 9/5    ---> Divide both sides by 5. (Answer)
