One number is twice the another.the second number increased by 5 bears a ratio
2:3 to the first number increased by 3. find the numbers?
:
x = 2nd number
2x = one number
:
%28x%2B5%29%2F%282x%2B3%29 = 2%2F3
cross multiply
2(2x+3) = 3(x+5)
4x + 6 = 3x + 15
4x - 3x = 15 - 6
x = 9 is the 2nd number and 18 is the 1st number
