Question 630456: Okay, so I'm studying: Solving combined inequalities and they gave me these two problems: 2t+7≥13 or 5t-4<6 and 2t+7≥13 and 5t-4<6. I thought it was the same until I saw the answers in the back of my book and I can't understand how to do them or what the difference is I mean I know there an and in one and an or in the other but what does that have to do??. Please help and Thank you!!! Answer by josmiceli(19441) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! You need a few more words of explanation rather
than just "and", "or"
When they say
(1) or
They want solutions where one or both of these
is true, and you only disregard values of which satisfy neither inequality.
------------------------------
(2) and
They want only solutions that satisfy both
of these at the same time. If one is satisfied,
but not the other, that is not accepted.
-------------------------------
Solving (1)
also
If either or both is true, that is a solution, so answer
--------------
Solving (2)
There is no value of that is a solution to both
inequalities at once, so this has no solution

Did I get the book answers? Hope so.
