numerator is not zero at the same x-value.

In your problem, vertical asymptote where 4x-2 = 0
or x=1/2.

FIND THE VERTICAL ASYMPTOTE OF THE RATIONAL FUNCTION
f%28x%29=%288x-12%29%2F%284x-2%29
If the rational function doesn't reduce to eliminate the denominator, then there's a vertical asymptote where the denominator =0.
4x-2=0
4x-2+2=0+2
4x=2
4x/4=2/4
x=1/2
This also the equation of the vertical asymptote.
