Let the length be x. As the width is half that distance the width is 1/2 x.
Area = length x width
so the area is x times 1/2x = 1/2 x^2 (where x^2 means x squared)
32 = 1/2 x^2 multiply each side by 2
64 = x^2
x = 8
so the length is 8 feet and the width is half of that 4 feet.
