Question 629002: a cylindrical water tank measures 20in in diameter and is 50in high. find the volume of this tank in gallons (use 1 gal = 231 cu in)
Answer by jim_thompson5910(35256) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! V = pi*r^2*h
V = pi*10^2*50
V = 5000pi
V = 15707.963267949
So the volume is roughly 15,707.963267949 cubic inches
Now convert to gallons...
(15,707.963267949 cubic inches)*(1 gal/231 cu in) = 15707.963267949/231 = 67.9998409867922
So 15,707.963267949 cubic inches = 67.9998409867922 gallons
Therefore, the volume of the tank is roughly 67.9998409867922 gallons
