I. Remove parenthesis by applying the distributive property

II. combine like terms

III. Isolate variable on one side of the EQ

IV.  Solve

 12-8(3x-5)> -7x+29

 12 - 24x + 40 > -7x + 29

     -24x + 52 > -7x + 29

            52 - 29 > 17x

                 23 > 17x

                 23/17 > x   or x < 23/17   |Note: Inequality sign still pointing towards x
