So this is prime.

It may be prime, but that does not mean that you cannot factor it.
The correct factorization of x%5E2%2B9:
%28x%2B3i%29%28x-3i%29
In order to check, just FOIL.
x%5E2-3ix%2B3ix-9i%5E2
x%5E2%2B9
