You can put this solution on YOUR website!
2x + y = 8
3x -7y =-34
multiply the 1st equation by 7, add to the 2nd equation
14x + 7y = 56
3x - 7y = -34
----------------addition eliminates y, find x
17x + 0 = 22
x = 22%2F17
:
Find y using the 1st equation, replace x with 22/17
2(22/17) + y = 8
44%2F17 + y = 8
y = 8 - 44%2F17
make 8 into an improper fraction
y = 136%2F17 - 44%2F17
y = 92%2F17

Check these annoying solutions on your calc using the 2nd equation;
enter: 3(22/17) - 7(92/17) results - 34
