4p%2B1-5p=5-%284%2Bp%29 Start with the given equation.


4p%2B1-5p=5-4-p Distribute.


-p%2B1=5-4-p Combine like terms on the left side.


-p%2B1=-p%2B1 Combine like terms on the right side.


-p=-p%2B1-1 Subtract 1 from both sides.


-p%2Bp=1-1 Add p to both sides.


0p=1-1 Combine like terms on the left side.


0p=0 Combine like terms on the right side.


0=0 Simplify.


Since this equation is always true for any p value, this means p can equal any number.

So there are an infinite number of solutions.
