d = sqrt((x2-x1)^2+(y2-y1)^2)


d = sqrt((3-5)^2+(5-(-1))^2)


d = sqrt((3-5)^2+(5+1)^2)


d = sqrt((-2)^2+(6)^2)


d = sqrt(4+36)


d = sqrt(40)


d = 2*sqrt(10)


So exact distance between the two points is 2*sqrt(10) units.
