Question 626567:  y=1/2 sin ( x + Pi/2 )
 
my home work is asking me to determine the amplitude, period, and phase shift of the function and then graph it.
 
i have found that the amplitude is-- 1/2 . 
the period is-- 2Pi . 
and that the phase shift is -- Pi/2 .
 
it is now asking me to compute coordinates for the original problem : y=1/2 sin ( x + Pi/2 )
 
 
i am unaware of how to get the Y answers to complete the coordinates. Every single time i try to plug in (for example) 0 in for X-->
 
 y= 1/2 sin ( 0 + Pi/2 ),
 
 my answer always seems to be wrong. I'm not sure if I am doing the evaluating wrong, or what, but i was wondering if you could walk me through the process of how to evaluate: y= 1/2 sin (0 + Pi/2 )
 
 to get the correct answer, which is apparently zero.

No, the answer is not zero.

y = (1/2)sin(0+(pi/2)) = (1/2)sin(pi/2) = 1/2*1 = 1/2
